Uttar Pradesh government has directed the schools in state to give two day leave to the children aged between 15 to 18, who are being inoculated for Covid-19. The leave will be given on the day of vaccination and on the next day. Around 1.5 lakh children got vaccinated on the first day of the vaccination drive yesterday.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the COVID-19 vaccination drive for children aged 15 to 18 from Civil Hospital in Lucknow yesterday. CM thanked the central government for providing vaccines free of cost for children, as they were provided for adults earlier.
AIR correspondent reports, The CM said that there are 1.4 crore children in the age group of 15-18 in the state and 2,150 booths have been set up for their vaccination. 39 such centers have been set up in the state capital alone. Yogi Adityanath further informed that 20.25 crore individuals have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in UP, of which 12.84 crores have received the first dose while 7.40 crores have received both doses. He assured that an adequate number of hospital beds and vaccine doses are available in the state and the state government is fully prepared. Only 8 cases of Omicron have been reported in the state, out of which 3 patients have fully recovered. More than 550 new cases of Covid have been found in the state yesterday.
